We want to challenge the belief that counselling is only about talking
The truth is, not everyone is able to express themselves through words.
Some clients move forward more easily through interventions that don’t rely on talking therapy only.
Our Creative Counselling CPD uses techniques such as:

I’m Tanja Sharpe, and I founded the Creative Counsellors (formerly The Creative Counsellors Club) in 2016.
At the time, I was working with rape crisis clients. I also had a private practice supporting the families of young autistic clients.
I found that many of my traumatised and neurodiverse clients were struggling with traditional talking therapies.
It was instinct really, but I started experimenting using non-verbal creative techniques inside my therapy room.
My clients began thriving, and I got to the point where I couldn’t support all the clients that were approaching me.
As much as I wanted to refer them onto other counsellors, at the time it wasn’t possible, as other counsellors around me weren’t openly using creative techniques.
I researched across Facebook and online, but was unable to find a community or any websites dedicated to exploring creativity in counselling.
I realised that I could either struggle alone or I could do something about it.
It was then that I launched our free Facebook community, and invited friends and colleagues to join me.
To my astonishment (and joy) within a couple of months, we had grown to over 1,000 members and we continued to grow.
We are now a thriving community of 8,000 creative counsellors.

“Creative Counsellors are my online counselling family”
The Creative Counsellors community is a safe and welcoming space, where our members share their feelings and their vulnerabilities, as well as celebrating their successes.
The work that you do as a counsellor is emotionally demanding. We understand that.
Our members speak up about the difficulties they experience through their daily work, and this allows us as a community to support each other.
We want to end the feeling of isolation that many counsellors experience.
We recognise the very real need for support amongst our community.
The CCA has a number of initiatives to directly support you – to nurture you to feel safe, supported, encouraged and nurtured.
Our free online community is the perfect first step to find out more about what we do, and connect with other creative counsellors
Get away from it all with a group of peers to heal, connect and self-nurture.
Be inspired and connect with like-minded counsellors in our annual 1-day conference.
